Do Books Count?

Do you have any collections?

Collection: something that is collected; a group of objects or an amount of material accumulated in one location, especially for some purpose or as a result of some process: a stamp collection;a collection of unclaimed hats in the checkroom;a collection of books on Churchill. (Per dictionary.com)

In that case, yes! Books do count. As a writer and reader with intention, I have my collection sorted into genre, author, and read/to be read. Now, my to be read shelf seems to be very durable. It’s holding LOTS of books. In my defense, three kids make it tough to find down time.

Disclaimer: Not my library (unfortunately)… This beauty is located at the St. Florian Monastery in Austria.

I’ve got self-help books, parenting books, books on ADHD and autism, books on writing (Stephen King’s is my favorite). Then I have non-fiction and memoirs. Devotionals, journals, writing prompts, my personal manuscripts…do those count?

Fiction! Nicholas Sparks and Jodi Picoult have their own shelves. Then there’s collections of Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Twilight… And then there’s the rest- books that caught my attention in the first few paragraphs. This doesn’t include the shelf of trending titles.

So, with that being said, yes I have a collection. Do I have enough to count as an actual library? Depends on the numbers you take into account. My husband says yes, but I’ll shamelessly quote Ariel here: “I want more!”
